Pinewood Derby!

Pinewood Derby Race

What is the Pinewood Derby you ask? Well the Pinewood Derby has been held by the Boy Scouts of America since 1953. Each Cub Scout partners up with an parent or adult to design, paint, weigh, refine, carve and race a Pinewood car.

To build a pine wood slot car you just need a regulation block of pine, four wheels and some nails. Hobby stores like Nankin Hobby sell slot car kits at great prices to help you get started.

The whole event is a great way for kids to bond with adults and other racers and learn the spirit of competition and camaraderie. The track the race is held on, varies from two to six lanes and slopes down to the ground, all the cars are powered by gravity. First, second and third place winners usually receive ribbons.
